No Country For Old Men: A Review

no country for old men

No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy is such a dark, dark novel. It focuses mostly on the evils of men and their grand desire for money.

A hunter happens upon a crime scene and 2.4 million dollars that has been abandoned. Obviously the owners of the millions are on the lookout to reclaim their drug money. Up and down the US/Mexico border, Anton Chigurh is using a captive bolt pistol as a weapon to kill the men who get in his way. He is a sociopath with a penchant for coin tosses to determine whether his victims get to live or die.

It really is a novel about people at their very base. How people would act if there were little to no consequences and if they happened upon millions of dollars, unmarked and ripe for the taking. Really, it’s about how much the characters are willing to risk for money.
